Getting Website Traffic Using Traffic Generation Techniques

Using different traffic generation techniques to attract website traffic is of the utmost importance to your online business success. Without attracting visitors to your website, the possiblities of becomming successful are nill.

The main reason you have a website is to get traffic. Let's look at your website as though it was a physical store. It doesn't matter what your products are, automobiles, books, furniture, or paper plates, if no one enters your place of business, you won't be open for long. You must advertise your physical store, just as you must promote your online store. Traffic to your website is the same as customer walking in to your restaurant.

We don't have the time or space to go over all the techniques that you are probably use to hearing about. So let's have a look at a couple of ways that are not talked about much but are very productive traffic generation techniques.

Search Engines

There is a difference between Search Engines and SEO, with SEO you will have to do a lot of reading, in order to get the process right. But you can use search engines, in order to get visitors to your website.

Smart pages is one technique that is used. Smart pages are created using keywords that people use in order to get information on the web. You create as many of these pages as you can using different keywords. Your visitors never see these pages, even though the spider can find these smart pages when they search the web. There is software that you can purchase to create these pages so you won't end up with duplicate webpages.

The way that the smart pages work is when a person is searching for a certain keyword phrase, using any one of the many search engines. Your web page has usually already been indexed for that certain keyword. So wouldn't you think that the person would be directed to your indexed web page. That not so. They would be directed to the page that the software has been programmed to send them to. A person can set up as many of these smart pages as they deem neccesary, and the visitor that does the search will be sent to the page that the software is set to send them to.

That is just one of many techniques that can be used to direct search engine users to your website when they are seeking information with which you can provide them.

Advertising Online

Let's look at a couple of online advertising techniques that one can use. You can use your blog to advertise your webpages, and also articles for the same purpose. You can also use PPC and Adwords, even though you can go through a lot of money using these options. Searchfeed is a resource that you could use, their pay-per-click ads start out at 1 cent per ad.

Offline Advertising

This is where most people slip up. They ignore the power of the classified ads in their local press, a postcard in a local shop window or a poster in their local health center or sports club. All of these can get you some pretty useful traffic if your niche suits it. What about local radio: it can be very inexpensive to have a quick advert for your product and website URL read out. It's the name that counts, so make it memorable, and, allied with the technique below, you could find people talking about it on the streets.

Buzz Advertising

Buzz advertising is a good way to promote your products. Get talking about your products and the benefits that they can bring, get your family and friends to do the same get the word out. Wherever you go drop a couple of your business cards, at the doctors office, the car repair place, pin a couple up at your local grocery store. The more your advertising is placed in front of people the more likely they are going to respond to it.

The importance of website traffic to your online business is critical and once you have tried the conventional advertising methods, try some of the traffic generation techniques outlined above: who knows? It might be what is needed to give your traffic a boost.

The importance of traffic cannot be overemphasized, and traffic generation techniques are of extreme importance to the future of your online business. Why? Because without visitors you might as well have no website at all.
