Is A Wood Stove Insert Right For Your Fireplace?
Most wood stove inserts have glass doors that can be opened to insert wood and allow you to see the fire. Wood stove inserts make things more efficient, as they keep more of the escaping heat that would normally be lost by a regular 'open' fireplace.
Deciding to go with a wood stove will almost always save you a lot of money. This decision will also give you a lot more heat because of the heavily increased efficiency of your fireplace. Because of increased efficiency, it will also spread out to a larger area.
By installing a wood stove insert, heat loss is diminished to a great extent by reducing the amount of heat lost normally through the outside fireplace walls. This centers the heat inside the stove, making the fire much more efficient by warming up the area intended to be heated. Many wood stove inserts use small electric fans to circulate the hot air into the surrounding area, thereby making sure the air doesn't stay in the fireplace.
By having a glass door in front of the fireplace opening, you reduce the draft that you normally feel when you have an open fireplace. It keeps the area around your fireplace cleaner too, because smoke and ashes can't leave the closed system that is created by the wood stove insert.
Another advantage of a wood stove insert is the fact that is makes the cleaning part of a wood stove easier. A wood stove insert has a flat bottom, making it easier to scoop op ashes that stay after the fire. A wood stove insert provides a whole array of benefits, and most are also attractively designed these days.
