Do I Need A Reason For Vegetarianism

Go Back to... Home » Fitness » Weight-loss »

There are many who make a conscious decision to eliminate animal products from their lives. They follow a vegetarian diet that is nutritious, tasty and helps them to maintain their health and vigor. If this type of lifestyle is foreign to you, you may wonder why people choose this lifestyle.

People who choose to be vegetarian usually cite the numerous health benefits of the diet as the reason for their choice. Commercially-raised livestock are pumped full of hormones and drugs, and outbreaks of e-coli contamination and mad cow disease happen all the time. You can avoid all of these problems just by making a simple choice not to eat meat products.

If planned properly, there can be no other healthy alternative menu to meat and animal products than a vegetarian diet. Many folks consume meat just because it has always been a part of their lives. They have never thought about replacing the meat they eat with other delicious choices. All people should be able to pick eating habits that they consider the healthiest, and vegetarianism is the right option for many people.

Animal cruelty is another reason that people give to explain their vegetarian life. The way that meat is processed and obtained in our technologically advanced world leaves a lot to be desired. The production of meat, and that is exactly what it is, would make the biggest fan of meat products wince and vow to never touch another bite. The problem is that many people are unaware of what is done to provide the meat that is eaten every day.

There is a way to eat a healthy diet that does not involve the killing of millions of animals every year. People who feel strongly about animals believe that every animal does not deserve the inhumane treatment they receive just to provide human beings with food.

In addition, many believe that human beings are not meant by design to eat meat. They believe that upon close examination of human teeth and internal digestive system, the conclusion would be that humans were built to be herbivores, not carnivores.

If one really tries to look critically at it, being a vegetarian actually is saving the environment. One cannot imagine a lot of people are still being ignorant about the dire environmental problems brought about by the massive greenhouse gas emissions of vast steer farms world over. Meat production is actually one massive venture. Not just hundreds, but millions of cattle are raised in unimaginably thousands of acres of lands. In fact, there can be no other entity that is particularly responsible for more carbon emissions to the atmosphere than cattle. If the call of the times is to protect the Earth from the destructive effects of global warming, then there can be no other most potent thing one person can possibly do to substantially help the environment than to live a healthy vegetarian lifestyle.
