Going for My Own Craft Show Selling Experience

My earlier posts, if you have been reading, have probably made it obvious that I am an avid fan of craft fairs. There are stand-alone events, with numerous people of unique talents and skills that offer a selection of diverse crafts. Sometimes, these craft shows come with a full-blown festival. These are truly remarkable events, fun and spiritual at the same time.

Whilst I have given advice on how to start peddling your crafts in the past articles, I must admit that I myself have never sold anything at a craft fair. I do, however, have a wealth of information from friends of mine who have made it a serious business; just thing of me as a really big fan of theirs.

That said, there will probably be a few people who will say that this is pure research and secondhand tips from friends. No merit whatsoever, until I get into selling the crafts myself. I believe this is an unfounded statement; there are many writers who carefully observe what they're writing about, even without getting firsthand experience. Still, just to show I have "walked the talk", I decided to sell a few items at a craft show.

The first question in my head is: what do I sell? Aside from attending craft shows on a regular basis, my only other area of interest is polished concrete. Quite useful and very elegant, if I may say so, but not really something you can display at a craft show booth, right? I'm sure, though, I would be able to look back to my roots and find a talent. But at the moment, however, I do not have the time to. I then just decided to start up a booth of my friends' crafts and see where it leads me.

Well, everything went fine and dandy. I basically followed the advice I've written about before; I looked around some scheduled fairs, and contacted organizers before going for the one with the best deals for the event booths. Starting next week, I will be managing a craft booth, selling various items from three talented friends. We'll see how it goes afterwards.
